The major market index composites did well during the latter half of last week and all closed the shortened trading week in the green. The Dow Jones Industrial Average soared and finished the last trading session higher by .42 percent at 12,505.99. The Nasdaq finished the session green as well by closing .63 percent higher at 2820.16. The S&P 500 finished the session higher by .53 percent at 1,337.38. Stocks did well and pushed index composites higher overall. The Dow finished off the last trading session at a level higher than any seen in almost three years. Specifically, the Dow ticked up 1 percent as did the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq notched higher by 2 percent. Earning reports were the main focus last week and positive reports, especially in the tech sector helped boost composite values. All eyes are focused now to observe if the stock rally will continue this week. We are now in the midst of prime earning season and if reports continue to skew positive, it should be another profitable week for companies and share holders. This upcoming week will be filled with more earnings reports and so investors will be acutely aware of results. Index composites will be driven once again by the posted results. To begin the trading week in the U.S. on Monday, data will post from the Census Bureau pertaining to the new home sales index in March. It is expected to rise. A popular earning report in focus this day will stem from Netflix. Other reports will post from Masco and Johnson Controls this day.
