Social Security Benefits today are constantly under pressure and Americans are dealing with changes and reform on a daily basis. Many Americans worry that the money that they invest in the Social Security system will be spent along with the all other funds that make up the current Social Security program in the United States. Social Security program changes must be made to keep the program functioning long term. Our political representatives are calling for budgetary reform in order to save the Social Security benefits program from being exhausted. One recent reform that has been implemented in order to help save money, and keep our planet just a little more green, is to go paperless. Social Security funds will be provided via direct deposit from this point instead of paper check snail mail form. According to information stemming from the Federal government’s Treasury Department, starting on May 1st, all Americans who apply for Social Security Benefits will need to set up a direct deposit account in order to receive the provisional benefit checks. Social Security reform has begun, and although this is just one small step towards ameliorating the funding deficiency problems tangled within the program, the treasury Department estimates that eliminating paper checks entirely will save approximately 1 billion over ten years.
